Mid Century Design was a style of architecture and design in the United States that lasted from the end of WWII to the mid 1960's. Parts of the style were closely related to International Style Modern architecture. Mid Century architecture also emphasized dynamic form, color, exuberance and a passion for the future. Other names for Mid Century Architecture are: Expressionism, Modern architecture, Futurist architecture, Googie architecture.
Veterans Memorial Coliseum exemplifies the main tenets of Mid Century Design: optimism, daring, innovation and an embracing of the future.
