In 2010 and 2011, an open, community-wide competition was sponsored by the City of Portland for design and programming proposals for Memorial Coliseum. There were nearly 100 concepts, from 'leave it alone', to 'gut it', to 'demolish it'. From simple, less costly; to complex, very costly. From Peace Gardens, to housing, sports complexes, museums, aquariums, to community centers. The end result was no conclusion.
